Informed by my research interest in postcolonial feminism, I approach teaching as a political act; what is voiced and overlooked in the classroom serves to reproduce systematic inequalities. In the Winter of 2023, I developed and taught my own course, International Organizations (POLI 345), at McGill University (160 students). My course was awarded the Best International Relations Course of the Year by the McGill Political Science Students’ Association.
I have also served as a teaching assistant for diverse sub-disciplinary courses at McGill University. These courses include: Transitional Justice in Comparative Perspective; Introduction to Comparative Politics; European Union; International Humanitarian Law; Developing Areas: Middle East.
Furthermore, I have been active in service-based teaching programs. In 2020-2021, I was a volunteer Turkish tutor for Syrian refugees in Turkey and Lebanon with the Paper Airlines. My experience of mentoring students with lived experience of displacement in 2022 and 2023 as part of the University of New South Wales’ Displaced Scholars Program also showcases my commitment to nourish a more inclusive scholarship.
